Jeanine Adams lives in Tehachapi and is running for Kern County Board of Education, Trustee Area 7.
Jeanine grew up attending Palm Springs High School before coming north for college — coursework at UCLA and Cal State Northridge, and a B.S. in Organizational Management, earned cum laude, from the University of La Verne. She's called Kern County home for decades, and Tehachapi home for years now.
Before she retired, Jeanine spent years as an Appraiser II with the Kern County Assessor-Recorder's Office, appraising residential property across the county for the tax roll. She served as a trustee on the board of KCERA — the retirement system that safeguards the pensions of Kern County's public employees. She's a licensed California real estate broker. And earlier in her career, she managed office operations, HR, payroll, and benefits for a commercial real estate firm, and ran branch operations for a retail bank.
Different jobs, same habit: reading a budget line by line, and asking hard questions about where the money goes and why. That's the habit she wants to bring to the Kern County Board of Education.
Jeanine is a parishioner at St. Malachi Church in Tehachapi, where she volunteers with the parish's St. Vincent de Paul ministry. She's a longtime advocate for special needs children and their families, and supports student-assistance programs — the kind of on-the-ground help that gets a struggling student back on track.
Jeanine is the mother of a son who is a public school teacher. She's seen this work from the other side of the desk — what it takes to run a good classroom, and what a school board owes the teachers and students who show up every day.
