Area 7 stretches from Tehachapi to Ridgecrest to Frazier Park — seven school districts, one board seat. Here's what Jeanine will spend it on.
Area 7 covers Tehachapi Unified, Sierra Sands (Ridgecrest), Mojave Unified, Muroc Joint Unified, Caliente Union, South Kern Unified, and the El Tejon area. That's a lot of ground, and it's easy for the districts farthest from the county seat to get the least attention. Jeanine will show up for all seven — not just the ones on the way to the office.
Jeanine spent her career reading budgets — appraising property for the county tax roll, sitting on the board that oversees Kern County's pension system, running office operations and payroll for a real estate firm. She knows the difference between a budget that looks fine on paper and one that's actually being watched. She'll bring that same scrutiny to the school board's books.
School boards across the country have turned into stages for fights that have nothing to do with what happens in a classroom. Jeanine isn't running to join that fight. She's running to keep Kern County's board focused on the only question that actually matters for a kid: is this school working for them?
Jeanine is a longtime advocate for special needs children and their families, and supports student-assistance programs that catch kids before they fall through the cracks. A district that only works for its easiest students isn't doing its job — she'll push for the support programs that reach the students who need them most.
If they sound like the right ones to you, chip in — or get involved another way.
